BEST OF POP AT BARN ON THE FARM 2023
In the rural farmlands of Gloucestershire, knee-deep in wild grass and accompanied by ostriches, I attended Barn on The Farm festival. With a stellar lineup and high energy, it was safe to say I was blown away by this intimate, fun festival.
I saw so many amazing acts from headliners like Bleachers to newer artists such as Wunderhorse. I’ve put together a list of my favourite pop artists from over the weekend (which was hard to compile). Songs that I have mentioned can be found in this playlist:
THOMAS HEADON
Australian star Thomas really impressed me on Saturday. Rocking up in double denim, he bounced around the stage, singing his own hits such as “Georgia” while also covering Hannah Montana’s “The Best of Both Worlds” and Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Getting Back Together”! The crowd screamed back every lyric, and I enjoyed his vibrant set.
OLIVIA DEAN
Catching superstar Olivia Dean’s was a no-brainer for me. Dressed in a summery lilac dress, she drew in a large crowd with her dreamy vocals, and she sang one of my faves - “Danger” which was a complete treat for the audience.
HOLLY HUMBERSTONE
Holly undoubtedly wowed me. As the final headliner, I patiently waited for her. Starting with “The Walls Are Way Too Thin,” the crowd sang back all the words (and so did I as I snapped photos). She confessed it was her first time headlining a festival and how excited she was to be doing so. During her set, she performed old and new tracks such as “Falling Asleep At The Wheel” and her latest single “Antichrist”.
NOTABLE MENTIONS
CAITY BASER
I caught Baser’s headline show a couple of months ago in London, and I’m so glad I got to see her again. Her cheeky energy perfectly matched the festival’s vibe and the sunny weather. The front row was screaming all her lyrics back to her, and she loved every second of it!
THE ACADEMIC
Irish 4-piece The Academic wowed the crowd at BOTF this year. Having cancelled their set last year, the band were raring to go; they did not disappoint as they wowed the crowd with their hit song “Girlfriends”.
WILL LINLEY
The viral South African star took to the unique Wooden Barn stage, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like! As he sang his biggest hits, such as “Tough (The Girls Song)”, Linley had the crowd singing back every word.
FIZZ
Newly put together and fresh to the stage, FIZZ treated the festival to all their unreleased music as this was their first-ever live performance together! I thoroughly enjoyed their stunning vocals and adorable outfits, and I look forward to their upcoming releases.
Those are my favourite pop artists at this year’s Barn on the Farm! The Gloucestershire-based fest is a must attend, and I hope to be back to the rural music fest soon.
