HAYLEY KIYOKO @ KOKO LONDON
US superstar Hayley Kiyoko sold out her London show at KOKO on April 9th, 2023. Starting with her track “Intro”, Hayley had the crowd waiting in bated breath as the screen projected onto the stage read “I Just Wanna Dance With You Tonight”. The fans screamed when she emerged from the dark dressed in a matching sparkly blue jacket and jeans. And her diamante trainers!

The live rendition of “sugar at the bottom”, off Hayley’s latest album included two back-up dancers in leather chaps and crop tops. The trio matched moves perfectly and the fans agreed with screams as they sang back every word.

While Hayley reminisced of her last show in London (2019) and how much she’d been wanting to come back, an audience member yelled out “lesbian Jesus has risen!” The crowd laughed and Hayley did too before launching into her track “Curious” from her album Expectations. This track was echoed by the crowd screaming every word of the fast-paced pop tune.
She then teased a new track titled “Greenlight” by asking the crowd “would you guys like to hear a new song?”. After the second round of ear-drum-piercing screams, she said “I’m just flirting with you guys, of course I’m going to play a new song.”

After a small costume break, Hayley came out in a new sparkly outfit and as the crowd wolf-whistled, she laughed “stop flirting with me y’all”. She teased a little bit of an older track “Determinate” from the Disney movie Lemonade Mouth - though the crowd begged for more, she moved onto an acoustic song, bringing her girlfriend out on stage and serenading her whilst singing “Pretty Girl”. The atmosphere was sweet, with couples holding hands and kissing through the crowd.
During her hit song “Girls Like Girls”, Hayley, her dancers, and the crowd all waved pride flags, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community; it was a heartfelt and beautiful moment.
Ending her set with the tour’s title track “PANORAMA” the crowd screamed and cheered. Hayley will be touring through Europe and the States this year - get your tickets here.
