Slaney Bay @ Colours Hoxton
The recent release of Slaney Bay’s second EP, "Why Does Love Mean Loss?" was celebrated with a headline show at Colours Hoxton last Friday, November 3rd.
Hailing from South West London, the band's sound seamlessly blends nostalgic 90's shoegaze with the energy of modern indie instrumentation. Imagine vocals similar to Wolf Alice infused with ambient sonics reminiscent of My Bloody Valentine with a sprinkle of bubblegum guitar riffs. They’re a younger band with a very refined sound.
Slaney Bay brought their six-track EP to life, performing catchy tunes such as "The Fall", heartfelt ballads such as "No One Else," and slower tracks such as the poetic "House Party." The room was packed to its brim with many in the crowd dancing and echoing the lyrics back to the stage. The captivating frontwoman, Cat Whitley, effortlessly commanded the audience's attention throughout the set with a combination of cool confidence and gentle charisma.
Without a doubt, Slaney Bay is an emerging force in the London indie scene, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for them. Give their new EP a listen here.
