The Aces follow suit in I’ve Loved You For So Long

The Aces new album I’ve Loved You For So Long debuted on June 2nd through Red Bull Records. The four-piece, hailing from Utah, have solidified a sound firmly grounded in west coast indie pop.

The album’s eponymous first track is a stand-out with 80’s influence guitar riffs applied in a modern context, reminiscent of the style paved by The 1975 and Pale Waves.

Consistent with compelling introductions, the album continues to demonstrate The Aces’ successful applications of autotune, expanded production, and glittery pop.

Lyrically, the release encapsulates themes of love and isolation, and unhappiness.

In the context of love, a deeply personal narrative is delivered with simple but relatable lyrics that will resonate with young audiences. It also makes listeners question whether the experiences across songs are derived from multiple points of view. The album’s title is heavily reflected in the music through feelings of longing.

Surrounding heavier topics, tracks such as “Miserable” and “Suburban Blues” find lead singer Cristal Ramirez lamenting over darker feelings, a la Phoebe Bridgers. The bluntness of lyrics such as “I’m still fucking miserable” provide commentary on the band’s stock of feelings post-fame.

Overall, the album encapsulates a catchy, cohesive sound that portrays new bounds for The Aces - give it a listen here!
