GGOLLDD at Schubas Tavern
GGOOLLDD! The shimmery trio is made up of frontwoman Margaret Butler and two Nick’s – synth player Nick Schubert and bassist Nick Ziemann. The three played in Chicago at Schubas Tavern on Dec. 18 to kick off a quick five-night Midwest tour that hit Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Anchr Magazine featured GGOOLLDD in their December showcase at Schubas Tavern with supporting performances from Seasaw and Waltzer.
GGOOLLDD frontwoman Margaret Butler graduated from art school in Baton Rouge and quickly packed up a Uhaul and got out of there. The artist spent some time in Portland, Oregon before heading out to Wisconsin where the band GGOOLLDD was formed. Now, she writes and sings for the dynamic, dirty and synth-pop heavy band GGOOLLDD – through which she gets to tour the country and do what she loves most: perform.
The band opened their intimate Schubas Tavern show with their 2015 single “Dance Through the Winter.” The passionate and charismatic Butler swayed around the stage like she had lived on the stage there her whole life, owning every inch of her space.
After three songs, Butler casually announced a new album in the works. She was seemingly more excited about announcing the fact that the night marked their first show in six months. Although the crowd was small, her voice and eccentric energy filled the spaces in the room.
