Wallows @ Eventim APOLLO
American alt rock band Wallows rocked the stage last Wednesday at the Eventim Hammersmith in London for the last show of the U.K. leg of their Tell Me That It’s Over tour.
With living room lamps scattered on the stage, the design was cosy, transporting us to the comfort of their homes as they started with their track, “I Don’t Want To Talk”. The crowd sang back every lyric and front man Dylan Minnette jumped around so much that his monitor fell out of his back pocket! His signature harmonica closed out the song and the venue shook with sound.
Wallows integrated some British pop culture into their set through a short cover of One Direction’s song, “What Makes You Beautiful”, a fair crowd pleaser. Other highlights include Minnette climbing off the stage and into the crowd for their hit “Ok”, running through the throngs of outstretched arms and screaming fans.
The band gave all of their energy to their set, and in turn, the audience cheered, sang all the words back to them; especially in “Remember When” - the crowd jumped so much that the balcony physically shook!
Guitarist Braeden collected random items thrown on the stage as he sang “1980s Horror Film” and the fans kept showering the band with gifts, such as flowers and a teddy bear! Drummer Cole was calm and cool during their set, seemly unfazed by the hordes of cheering fans.
Ending with their famous hit, the band had the whole venue yelling back the lyrics to “Are You Bored Yet”. With confetti canons and starry eyes, they promised they’d be back soon.
While we patiently await Wallows’ return to England, they’ll be stopping in Europe, Asia, South America, and North America all by the end of August. Get your tickets to see them here.
